The International Livestock Congress – USA 2013 will again focus on meeting the challenge of feeding a growing global population.  It has been projected that the world population will grow to around 9 billion people by the year 2050.  In order to meet this daunting challenge, we will need to double the current production of food.  The 2013 Congress will provide an opportunity to learn more from both domestic and international industry experts about the challenges our industry will face with respect to meeting the demand for beef in the future.

Dr. Gary Smith will keynote the Congress with a look back at the importance of technologies over the past fifty years in getting us to this point in our industry as well as what will be the role of technologies moving our industry into the future.  Dr. Smith will also address the importance of Telling the Beef Story and becoming more transparent for today's consumers.

It is a well-known fact that the success of the beef industry today, and in the future, will be dependent upon meeting the demands of our consumers.  John Lundeen, executive director of market research with the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, will discuss the latest market research focused on identifying the drivers of beef demand both domestically and internationally.  Learn more about our consumers' acceptance of the technologies used in our industry.

The global beef industry has changed significantly over the past several years and we are certain there will be many changes ahead for the beef industry.  An international panel will discuss the current changes and provide insight into possible changes in the future.

Meeting the challenge of feeding the world will be dependent upon the ability of our industry to become more sustainable moving forward.  The Congress will provide the opportunity for you to hear about the Beef Checkoff's multi-year sustainability study that is focused on identifying pathways that will lead to a continual increase in sustainability for our industry.

You will also learn more about traceability as well as how you can become an advocate for our industry.  The Congress also provides the opportunity for you to meet the 12 recipients of the International Stockmens' Educational Foundation Fellowship Awards for 2013.

The 2013 ILC will be an educational event that you will not want to miss!
